Guilherme Cavalcanti is the CEO of CESAR-PAR, the investment holding company of C.E.S.A.R (www.cesar.org.br) – the award winning innovation center in Brazil. He is an active board member of eight IT companies, and is responsible for the seed stage investments in C.E.S.A.R´s research and development projects and the start-ups therefrom. Guilherme will be the Portfolio Manager of FIRST, a Brazilian impact investing fund that is scheduled to close in early 2012. Guilherme Cavalcanti holds a degree in Business Administration from UNICAP-Catholic University, and has taken extension courses in Finance and Venture Capital in Brazil and abroad. He has also served as CEO of the State of Pernambuco Development Agency and board member of Porto Digital (www.portodigital.org.br), a leading Brazilian technology park. Guilherme was instrumental in some of the most relevant urban intervention projects in his community, an experience that led him to collaborate as a consultant in some of Brazil’s most recent urban intervention projects. He hopes to share his experience on how the economic dynamics of an urban area can be changed to generate inclusion and opportunity for the majority.
