Sexual and Gender Based Violence as an Investment Risk
Katherine Pease, Cornerstone Capital Group
“Time’s Up”… #MeToo … allegations of abusive behavior by corporate chiefs … the groundswell of public attention to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) is revealing how pervasive it is at all levels of society, in all industries. From an investor’s perspective, the burgeoning movement to root out abuse raises the question of whether capital markets participants might be complicit in its persistence. In this session we will explore emerging research that sheds light on the relationship between gender based violence and investment risk as well as active roles that shareholders can take to encourage greater disclosure of violence and harassment in companies.
