Paying for impact: How a new twist on “pay for success” monetizes impact through a scalable investment vehicle
Alice Gugelev, Global Development Incubator
This panel asks the toughest questions in development: how to ensure funding goes to the most impactful interventions and how to value that impact? Impact bonds and pay for success models are promising tools – they tie funding to impact results that are pre-agreed upon and verified, making donor dollars more effective while avoiding programs that don’t work. But few models have been scalable due to high transaction costs and deal complexity. Grounded in live examples, this session will explore how a new “outcomes fund” model can build a trusted, repeatable process to unlock more capital and build demand for outcomes.
