Circular Apparel Innovation Factory
The apparel sector is struggling to remain competitive. The sector therefore remains risk averse to ‘unknown’ business model innovations and investing in ‘big shifts’ like circularity that will influence the sector’s future. Most brands / manufacturers continue to conform to traditional practices within the largely unorganized value chain, while some are experimenting with innovations by connecting with solution providers, but at an individual level. Intellecap recognizes that change requires collaborative action by the industry that involves solution providers from across disciplines. Lack of connections to innovators like startups, tech providers, R&D experts, coupled with the lack of an open collaborative platform increases costs for manufacturers on sourcing innovations on one hand, and on the other, restricts innovators to work with brands at economies of scale. This lack of a shared vision and approach ultimately limits innovations from exponentially scaling. We will work with brands in the apparel sector to understand the context of the circularity implementation challenges, identify key components of the problem as well as relevant stakeholders, and then map out innovation opportunities. This mapping will result in identifying shared opportunity clusters. Through a design thinking process facilitated by Intellecap, participants will work to identify innovations and new business models. For the top 3 opportunity areas, we will identify relevant social enterprises with innovations that can address these opportunity areas. Based on enterprise - brand interactions, Intellecap will identify self-assessment parameters that will help enterprises assess how their circular business solutions are applicable to textile brands and manufacturers.
