At the Intersection of Participation and Impact Investment: New Ways Forward
Grace Lyn Higdon, Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex
The voices of those who impact investors aim to benefit are all too often absent in the decision-making processes about investments which will significantly affect their lives. This panel will bring together impact investors and development practitioners to discuss ways to strengthen the participation of communities in impact investment cycles, drawing on a history of participatory methods from the Institute of Development Studies, principles developed by Transform Finance, and exploring the Buen Vivir Fund’s transformative approach to supporting grassroots economic initiatives that are accountable to the communities they serve.
