The Rising Role of Women Social Innovators and Impact Investors in Asia

In the male-dominated culture in Asia, majority of the political, economic, and social sector leaders are still men. With the rising role in economic and social development, women are participating, engaging, and leading the social initiatives and impact investments more actively than before. Although the gender gap is still large in low-income and under-developed communities. What have women social innovators and impact investors accomplished and learned? What are the key success factors and obstacles? How have they impacted their fellow women in both their own circles and low-income and under-served communities? How have they challenged men to think differently on the gender assumptions, and accelerated social change? How would the inclusive practice scale in 3-5 years from now? What are the impact investment opportunities there? We invited women from east, south, southeast Asia and the US working in environment protection, impact investing, leadership development, gender lens investment advisory, etc. across Asia to share their perspectives on the above topics.
