The Promise of Carbon Farming – Leveraging Investment to Balance the Climate
Erin Axelrod, LIFT Economy
How can investment act as a lever to draw down carbon and generate jobs? Interest in "Carbon farming" (including planned grazing, tree crop plantings and compost application) has spiked as a viable way to fund important climate change work. We'll discuss principles of carbon offsetting programs, bio-based carbon sequestration and investment opportunities in these areas. We'll share ideas for addressing racial and socioeconomic divides through restoring soil health while diversifying access to capital. Explore strategies for how to leverage this groundswell around carbon farming to optimize branding and market share while creating a climate-beneficial portfolio and/or company.
