The $2.5 trillion challenge hanging in our closets: Can the fashion industry become a source for good?
Maxine Bedat, Zady
Fashion is an $2.5 trillion industry with enormous negative impacts on our forests, rivers, oceans, climate, and people. While alarming, these implications also mean the fashion industry is uniquely positioned to drive transformative change, and to contribute to the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. In this session, leading experts in the field will explore the biggest challenges we’ll face on that journey – from eliminating forced labor to reducing carbon emissions – and identify specific ways the fashion industry can leverage social capital to become a source for good.
