Strategies for Change: Using Finance to Address Domestic and Gender Based Violence
Simi Shah, Criterion Institute
Domestic violence is a day to day reality for many and while the experience is on the individual level the impact is also widely shared throughout society, affecting the roles and status of women (and men), efforts to develop local and regional economies and the destabilization of family structures. These patterns present risks to individuals, communities, businesses, industries, and regions. This panel will discuss how each of the strategies for shifting patterns around domestic and gender based violence presented in A Blueprint for Women's Funds are applied to the design of a (1) US based public equities portfolio and (2) a program which involves a donor agency supporting financial intermediaries to facilitate a social impact investment market in the Pacific region.
