Investing to Amplify the Good Economy

Christie George, New Media Ventures

The good economy is all around us and yet, we still seem to preaching to the choir. How can impact investments specifically in technology and media help amplify the work of social enterprises and good economy actors that have the potential to change the world --- if only the world knew about them. Distributed networks are transforming the supply chain for the creation, distribution and promotion of media, and new tools are emerging that can amplify underrepresented voices and extend the influence of the good economy. The proposed panelists have deep experience investing in media and technology platforms and will offer a roadmap of how we can use media to accelerate the field as a whole. (This panel is proposed as a follow-up to the keynote session proposed by Colin Mutchler.)

We hosted the first conversation on this topic at the New Media Ventures Summit. In that case, I focused on some of the companies themselves. At SOCAP, I'd like to focus on the investment actors and intermediaries who have a crucial role to play in supporting these media investments. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17852731/NMV%20Amplification%20Engine_2.pdf
