How blockchain will change the way we invest for impact
Erika Boll, Global Development Incubator
What’s the opportunity for blockchain technology to change the way we invest for impact, and what role does corporate and impact investment play in accelerating the utility of blockchain for impact? In conversation with industry, public, and academic leaders, this panel will tackle the complex questions of blockchain and its applicability to impact investment. First, it will explore the intersection of blockchain and impact, diving into its potential use cases to accelerate impact (from areas such as securing land titles to tracing supply chains), feasibility for scale, and debunking myths around its use as a ‘silver bullet.’ Second, the panel will explore how blockchain can affect impact investing itself, including catalyzing new capital, measuring success, and providing new liquidity events like initial coin offerings. The objective of this panel is to catalogue new opportunities, identity impact investing blockchain use cases, and build collaborations to scale its impact.
