Part of my world vision for a peaceful society is composting. Let's deal with our waste! While I'm ecstatic to see composting discussions go mainstream in the New York Times, this article is still a little short-sighted, calling out 13% of landfills as food and therefore compostable. All organic, compostable matter (yard waste and food waste) is closer to 36% according to the NYC department of sanitation statistics.  Imagine our landfills 1/3 of their size!
