Kiva.org officially announced its new program to extend microcredit to US entrepreneurs this morning. With the many challenges facing our banks, it’s exciting to see a non-profit social enterprise usings its competencies to help address these issues. As Nathaniel Whittemore observes at Change.org, it is an excellent case-sturdy of a non-profit social enterprise addressing needs that a for-profit enterprise could not due to SEC regulations.
SoCap09 will host members of Kiva.org at this year;s conference and we are excited to hear more from them about the ways Kiva has successfully partnered with the government. Hopefully they can also give us a better understanding of the non-profit social enterprise’s role in entrepreneurial development.
